AltHub Participates in MIT CISR Data Monetization Research Study

AltHub’s Tim Keane and CEO Scott Hall had the privilege of representing our organization in Professor Barbara Wixom and her team’s comprehensive MIT Center for Information Systems Research (CISR) Data Monetization Survey Research initiative.
The full research report will be released in January 2026, but early findings from this extensive study provide compelling insights into the current state of enterprise data monetization and the factors separating high performers from average organizations.

The full report releases in January, but early findings are compelling:

One striking stat: Organizations currently utilize only 28% of their available data assets on average.
That means 72% sits untapped—representing massive unrealized value, and opportunity.

The research identifies what separates high performers in data monetization:

  1. CEO-level data leadership (not just CDO-level)
  2. Data value management (treating data as a product)
  3. Lifecycle measurement and accountability
We’re seeing this at AltHub—companies discovering their anonymized operational data is worth six and seven figures annually, often without realizing the asset they’re sitting on.
